Abstract:
Analyzed here in the paper are the physical and chemical properties of the Φ1 219 mm×18.4 mm and Φ1 422 mm×21.4 mm X80M spiral butt-welded steel pipes. Facts as follows are revealed via the analysis. The base metal of the pipe body possesses good toughness, which shows a big safety margin as per relevant technical requirement;however the yield strength of the pipe body section as close to the butt weld seam is generally lower than that as specified in relevant technical requirement;the results of the tensile test and the guided-bend test as made to the butt weld seam are qualified, whereas the toughness of the butt weld seam is not so good. Accordingly it is suggested to keep research on the areas with inconsistent properties of the head and end parts of the coil strip, and determine the length of the property inconsistent sections,to carry out research on the welding process for the butt-welded steel pipe, and to sort out via the research a set of optimal parameters of the welding process as per different pipe wall thicknesses so as to have the butt-welded pipe successfully used for the pipe line.
