Abstract: Oil-well pipes made from certain steels require quenching/tempering heat-treatment.The paper deals with several processes of in-and off-bath water-quenching for oil-well pipes employed in Japan and relevant measures taken to prevent pipes being quenched from defects such as quenchcaused crack, bend and oval deformation, etc.
