Abstract: 30m-long mandrel is the basic tool for 140mm mandrel mill in Baoshan. The development of the mandrel blank is described including heating, roughing rolling, continuous rolling, cooling, annealing and handling of the steel for the blank. The inspecting result shows that the quality and life of the newly-developed mandrel blank are as the same as thai of the imported one.
