Abstract:
Studied is the wear-resistance performance of Ti
3AlC
2 ceramic lining material for steel tube. The experiment result shows that the heat resulting from friction will lead to the decomposition and oxidization of the friction surface of Ti
3AlC
2 material and thus generate an amorphous oxide consisting of Ti,Al,Fe and O,which will in a sense play a role of lubricating.Under high normal load or speed, the friction coefficient of Ti
3AlC
2 material decreases with the increasing of the amount of oxide. The majority of wear happens on the oxide layer of the friction surface, which will protect the Ti
3AlC
2 base material. Therefore the use of Ti
3AlC
2 material as ceramic lining for steel tube will be able to protect the base material of steel tube and prolong its service life.
