Abstract:
It is pointed out that the design method involving pass screwdown factor for shaped roll groove is rather complicated. Due to the fact that with this method, such influencing elements as the longitudinal elongation of the billet, the material, the process and the rolling operation are totally out of consideration, the designed requirement as derived from the said pass screwdown factor method can not be met in actual rolling process. On the other hand, the nominal dimension design method for the shaped can groove not only requires much less complicated design program, but also brings about higher design effectiveness and better result, because with this method no specific distribution of the deformation allowance needs to be considered, and instead, the finished tube nominal dimensions are directly used as the basis for designing each individual pass and each zone of the roll groove profile.
