Abstract: Summarized in the assay is the developments of the design technologies for OC TG-used premium connections as made both at home and abroad， and the requirements by OCTG for performance of premium connections. Also elaborated here are the design characteristics of the common-used premium connections，focusing on three aspects of the OCTG premium connection i.e.，thread joining，sealing face and torque shoulder. Moreover the performances of the premium connections designed in different ways are comparatively analyzed，while the basic design principles and thinking for optimizing performance of the premium connection are put forward.
