Abstract: Briefed in the essay is the background concerning the revision that brought about the new edition of GB/T 5310 Seamless Steel Tubes and Pipes for High Pressure Boiler.The analysis focuses on the major technical contents as revised, and a comparison between the major technical indicators of related applicable Chinese and foreign standards.Accordingly suggestions for implementation of the new edition standard are proposed.Based on the analysis, it is regarded that the main aspects of the new edition GB/T 5310 are equal to those of the advanced correspondent foreign standards, including application scope, steel pipe dimensional deviation, quantity of the steel types, steel chemical composition, steel pipe mechanical property, steel pipe inspection items and technical target requirements, etc., whereas speaking of inspection items and technical target requirements, the newly-edited GB/T 5310 specifies more inspection items than its advanced foreign counterparts, and part of the technical targets are also stricter than those as specified by the latter.
