Abstract:
Discussed is the necessity of application of the energy measuring system to the drop-weighted tear test (DWTT). Based on the result of comparison of the measurement characteristic from the home-made energy measuring system for DWTT for linepipe-purose steel with that from relevant ASTM and ZWICK DWTT machines, it is concluded that the measurement result form the former is accurate and reliable, and it is regarded that the said home-made system is capable of providing testing support to quantitative research on factors responsible for the fracture toughness of the linepipe-purpose steel and the theoretic analysis of the fracture mechanism of the linepipe-purpose steel under impact load.
