Abstract: Compared with similar mandrel mills as made abroad, the advantages of the TZ Φ180 mm 3-roll mandrel pipe mill that is made by Taiyuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.as the first of its kind in China are analyzed, covering product quality, yield, capacity and investment cost, etc.Also described in the paper are the mill's shortcomings relating to such aspects as product appearance quality, roll change-over method, control system and the math modeling of the rolling process.The set up of the said home-made mandrel mill has brought about the localization of manufacture of the high-end pipe-rolling mill, and promoted the technological development of the industry, which conforms to the need for national industrial structure adjustment, and transforming the way for economic growth of the country.
