Abstract:
Presented in the article are a briefing of the principle and method of the hydrostatic burst test,and the statistic analysis of the test data as resulting from the said kind of tests which were made to SAWH pipes and SAWL pipes over the last two years.The analyisis shows that the values of yield strength,tensile strength and yield ratio of the steel pipes as measured from the hydrostatic burst test are all higher than those as obtained from the tensile test.Accordingly,the result from the tensile test is used to characterize the yield strength of the steel pipe,and in turn,carry out relevant pipeline design and safety-evaluation thereof.As a result,sufficient safety margin high as about 11% is ensured,which means the pipeline will be much safer.
