Abstract:
The HSS roll can be substituted for the conventional alloy cast iron roll and powder metallurgical carbide roll. It is known that though the alloy ca st iron roll is cost-effective, but not so wear-resistant, while the carbide one is of high quality, but costs too much. The centrifugally-cast HSS roll features so high hardness up to 65~67 HRC, the surface hardness difference under 2 and impact toughness over 16 J/cm
2. For the steel tube stretch-reducing mill, the HSS roll has a service span during the redressing interval 12 times that of the al loy nodular cast iron roll, developing no crushing or peeling. Although the HSS roll is almost as effective as the carbide roll, its cost is only 30% of that of the latter.
