Abstract: Discussed in the paper is the important role played by off-furnace refining process in manufacturing of blooms for tube-making, involving such aspects of the bloom as chemical composition, plasticity under high-temperature and mechanical properties etc. Based on the result of relevant research, technical requirements to core structure of the CC round and the relationship between the said structure and the profile of the piercer plug are put forward.
