Abstract: When machined, the hi-precision cold-drawn steel tube may have some geometric changes like internal diameter and straightness due to the residual stress it contains. Based on relevant analysis of the residual stress of the said tube and tests concerning relief thereof, the residual stress distribution is identified, and accordingly the specific parameters for and the effectiveness of the low temperature annealing process aimed at relieving the residual stress are described.
