    Stress Analysis and Structure Optimization of Cold-drawing Head for Producing Seamless Steel Pipe

    • In order to solve the problem of cracking and breaking of the cold-drawing head as occurring during the manufacturing process of the steel pipe.The digital simulation is made with the ANSYS/LS-DYNA software for the colddrawing head for steel pipe non-mandrel making.The analysis model of the pipe short-mandrel cold-drawing process is set up to calculate the stress of the Ф385 mm×50 mm finished 4140 seamless steel tube.As a result it is reveals that the stress is concentrated on the two sides of the circular arc top of the cold-drawing head.Based on the analysis result,three structure types of the colddrawing head are optimally designed.And through the simulation calculation and the production verification,it is determined that the stress of the separated cold drawing head structure is the minimum,and thus it is no longer frequent for the cold-drawing head to get broken.
