    A Method for Measuring Toe Angle of Assel Pipe Mill and Its Engineering Application

    • As a fact,the toe angle of the Assel pipe mill remarkably influences the formation quality of the steel pipe,but there is no method for accurate measurement of the angle,and the only way is make the adjustment thereof with experience. Accordingly a new method for measuring the toe angle is developed and described here in the paper. The method involves operations as follows:using the inclinometer to separately measure three roll oblique angles as to the horizontal plane,among which the actual toe angle of the upper roll is equal to the measured angle,while the actual toe angle of the lower roll is calculated by using the spatial angle method of triangular pyramid calculation. This method has features such advantages as simple operation,fast measurement,and accurate result. The feasibility of this method has been verified through its application to a certain domestically-used Assel mill.
