Abstract
In order to solve the problem of poor wear resistance and easy wear of the titanium alloy drill pipe joint in the operation process, an experimental study on overlay welding of the banding of the titanium alloy drill pipe joint is conducted. It is so difficult to make hard banding overlay welding on the surface of the titanium alloy joint with the conventional welding methods and amorphous alloy wear-resistant welding wires. Better hard banding and metallurgical bonding with the titanium alloy base material can be achieved by means of the using the laser cladding technique, taking the TiC-TC4 mixed alloy powder as the cladding material, following a certain mixing proportion, and selecting appropriate laser cladding process parameters. All the performance indexes of the said joint with its hard banding overlay welded are up to Standard SY/T 6948-2013 hard banding of oil drilling tools, including surface forming quality, size, hardness and metallographic bonding strength, etc., which provides a direction for the research on laser cladding technique for hard banding of the titanium alloy drill pipe joint.
