    Failure Mechanism of Drilling Tools as Used in Surige Region and Relevant Preventative Actions as Proposed

    • It is performed to collect and statistically analyze the data related to the drilling tool failure cases as occurred on the work sites in the Surige region during the first half year of 2010.The statistical result indicates that there are three most regular types of drilling tool failures,i.e.fatigue/corrosion fatigue failure of the drill pipe as the No.1,then,fatigue/corrosion fatigue failure of the drill collar connection,and the last,the overload fracture failure of the drill pipe body.Causes for these three typical failure types are primarily discussed,and in turn,preventative actions are proposed.
