FEM Analysis on Tube Stretch-rolling Process

Abstract
The tube rolling process with the single-stand 3-roll mandrel mill is simulated by using the large-scale,nonlinear FEM software ANSYS/LS-DYNA.The effects by both front and back stretches on the rolling force,the mandrel axial friction and the metal elongation are analyzed.It is identified via the analysis that the higher the stretch,the lower the rolling force,and the bigger the elongation,and that with increasing of both the front and back stretches,the mandrel axial friction can be reduced,but the influence is not obvious.The achievement from the above mentioned research is worthy using as the theoretic basis for pass design and roll speed adjustment of the mandrel mill.
