Abstract
Pinpointing the problems concerning the conventional steel tube cold-rolling(drawing) manufac-turing processes and the need for steel tube deep-processing, the requisite conditions for steel tube cold cross-rolling formation are discussed on the basis of the characteristics of the workpiece movement and metal deformation during cross-rolling. Moreover, the velocity field and strain and stress are calculated by means of the rigid-plastic finite element method. Based on the result, the roll groove in the light of the characteristics of steel tube cross-rolling is designed. It is proven by relevant theoretic analysis and industrial operation experiments that the said cold cross-rolling process is feasible and practical, and can be used to a certain extent to substitute the steel tube cold-rolling (drawing) processes, and also for processing of dual metal clad tubes.
