    Discussion on Metallographic Structure and Mechanical Property of Weld and HAZ of Friction-welded Drill Pipe

    • Observed and tested are the metallographic structure and mechanical properties of the weld and HAZ of the friction-welded drill pipe. The results show that the structure the weld and the HAZ contains 9 areas, and that the minimum tensile strength exists in the rim area of the HAZ of the pipe end, while the minimum impact stays with the weld. It is proposed to make further study on the weld itself and the weld heat treatment process.
