Abstract
With a comparison between the regulations for nondestructive test methods for in-service inspection under RSE-M and those under ASME BPV-Ⅺ, the similarities and differences between the two are analyzed in detail. It is identified via the analysis that the said two specifications both adopt the seven common-used major nondestructive test methods.RSE-M specifies detailed inspection methods as for specific inspection objects, while ASME specifies the inspection methods as per inspection categories. And the acoustic emission method under RSE-M is used for leakage monitoring during defect extension and hydrostatic testing, while the same method under ASME is mainly used for monitoring defect extension.Under RSE-M, the eddy monitoring method is used as a volume inspection method, while under ASME, the same inspection method is used for the purpose of surface inspection or volume monitoring just as per the specific inspection status.Furthermore ASME describes rather generous regulations for substitution of the inspection method.
