Abstract
Addressing the problems relating to low yield and short die service life encountered by a certain rectangular steel tube maker, relevant elements responsible for the high rejection rate are theoretically analyzed, and the existing manufacturing process is modified, involving such actions as changing the initial cold-drawing step into a rolling one to prevent development of trembling defective marks on the long side surface of the tube, and modifying the mandrel shape to enhance its service life.
