Research on Non-pollution Zero-emission Surface Treatment for OCTG Threads

    • A copper-based composite nano friction reducing coating(AFRICO)containing nano-copper as major antifriction agent is applied to the sand-blasted thread surfaces of NC38 drill pipes and K55 and L80 oil casings, in order to study its friction reducing and anti-galling properties. The results indicate that AFRICO after curing will form a copperbased thin metal layer with strong adhesion on the thread sand-blasted layer, which can reduce the friction coefficient of the metal contact surface and so effectively eliminate galling of OCTG threads. This technology can replace current treatments such as copper plating and high temperature phosphating. It is an innovative non-pollution coupling thread surface treatment technology satisfying relevant environment protection requirements.
