Current Production Situation and Technical Deficiency of and Development Proposals for Domestic Seamless Steel Tube Industry

Current production situation of domestic seamless steel tube-making sector is briefed. Also ana-lyzed here in the paper are the gaps between the said domestic industry and the international advanced level of seamless steel tube production in terms of production capacity, equipment technical level, product types & quality and applicable standards, etc. In addition, pinpointing the problems as concerned and identified over recent years in the domestic sector like pell-mell expansion, material （billet） short supply, inadequacy of product mix, insuffi-ciency in R & D and slow progress in new product development, suggestions are proposed, including properly con-trol of investment in and growth of the industry, obsoleting out-of-date pipe mills, speeding up adjustment of product mix, setting up major billet sources as well as source-sharing commonly by tube-makers.
