Study on Wear-resistance of Ti3AlC2 Ceramic Lining Materialfor Steel Tube

Abstract
Studied is the wear-resistance performance of Ti3AlC2 ceramic lining material for steel tube.The experiment result shows that the heat resulting from friction will lead to the decomposition and oxidization of the friction surface of Ti3AlC2 material and thus generate an amorphous oxide consisting of Ti,Al,Fe and O,which will in a sense play a role of lubricating.Under high normal load or speed,the friction coefficient of Ti3AlC2 material decreases with the increasing of the amount of oxide.The majority of wear happens on the oxide layer of the friction surface,which will protect the Ti3AlC2 base material.Therefore the use of Ti3AlC2 material as ceramic lining for steel tube will be able to protect the base material of steel tube and prolong its service life.
