Present Situations Concerning Design and Evaluation of Premium Connection as Applied to HPHT well

Based on the experiences and achievements as resulting from the development and application of the premium connection both at home and abroad, the structural design, selection tips and evaluation methods of the premium connection as used for the HPHT well are discussed and summarized, involving details associated with the designs of the thread, the torque shoulder and the sealing structure, etc.Also summarized are the theoretic methods as used to evaluate the sealing performance of the said premium connection serving under extreme load conditions, which provides reference for further targeted optimization design and selection of the OCTG with premium connection, so as to properly solve the OCTG failure problems.
