Current Situation and Development Prospect of Technical Equipment of Domestic Seamless Steel Tube-making Industry（Part Ⅰ）

The technical equipment development of domestic seamless steel tube-making industry is detailed. Since 1953 when the first domestic mm plug mill was put into operation, thanks to continual research, development and import, the seamless steel tube-making industry of the country has been equipped with the most complete hot-rolling mills in the world in terms of type and product size range, and also equipped with cold-rolling（drawing）mills with consi-derable type variety and tube size range. However, the technical equipment level so varies geographically, and the equip-ment engineering and manufacturing firms are so scattered. To speed up the domestic seamless steel tube-making indus-try and turn the country from a big seamless steel tube consumer and producer into a world power in this regard, proposals have been put forward, including fully tapping the capacities of the existing advanced equipment, gearing up develop-ment of small modern mills, making distribution of the conventional pipe mills more geogr aphically logical and impr-oving the centralization of the manufacturers as well as building up large-scale corporations.
