Practice of Manufacturing Large-sized Stainless Steel Tube with Φ460 mm Mandrel Mill

Elaborated here in the article are the main aspects of production of the TP304 stainless steel tube with the Φ460 mm 3-roll PQF mill operation line, including the manufacturing process, the tips of in-process control, and the product quality, etc.As required by ASME SA 213/SA 213M-2004, any austenitic steel pipe must be furnished under as-heat treated conditions.And for the TP304 stainless steel tube, it must be heated to minimum 1 040℃, and then quenched with water or with any other process to be quickly cooled down prior to undergoing solid solution heat treatment on the walking beam furnace heat treatment line.The actual production practice shows that the Φ460 mm 3-roll PQF mill is suitable for rolling high alloy stainless steel seamless tubes with all the technical and properties specifications up to the requirements as specified under ASME SA 213/SA 213M-2004.
