Examples of Quality Control for Steel Tubes Used for West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipe Line Project (Part Ⅲ)

Briefed here in the paper are the main aspects concerning quality control of the steel tubes as used for the West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipe Line Project, covering the importance of the quality control, determination of technical specification of the steel tubes, the plan and mode of the quality control during the process of manufacturing the steel tubes, the full process quality control as well as the full process site supervision by the customer representatives, etc. It is emphasized that the process control inspection is a key measure of process control, which contributes to considerably minimizing the risk both the manufacturer and the end-user may take with finalized product inspection and ensuring the product under 100% control. Several examples of the said quality control are described, involving the production of steel plate, strip, pipe and elbow, etc.
