    Comparative Analysis of Seamless Steel Tube NDT Methods under ISO and ASTM Standards

    • Introduced in the paper are the specifications of NDT methods under ISO 10893-2011 Edition and ASTM standard.And the prevailing specifications are compared with the old ones.The differences between and similarities of the two specifications are analyzed in terms of OD range of pipes to be inspected, material selection of reference pipe, profile and dimensions of artificial defect, acceptance classification, requirements for NDT report, and limitations of the detection methods.The analysis reveals that although there is no substantial difference between the NDT techniques as specified separately under the above mentioned two standards, there are still differences when it comes to requirements for material selection of reference pipe, profile and dimensions of artificial defect, and acceptance classification, etc.Such issues need to be separately dealt with in accordance to the above mentioned specifications for the NDT methods.
