Abstract
Based on the analysis as made via simulation of the straightening process of the seamless steel pipe as set up with the MSC.MARC Finite Element(FE) software, an investigation is conducted on the effect of the screwdown amount and temperature of straightening on the residual stress of the pipe body under the precondition that the straightness of the pipe is ensured. Owing to the said simulation analysis and relevant experimental measurements, it is identified that the greater the elasticity modulus(or the higher the steel grade) of the pipe, the bigger the after-straightening residual stress will be. Accordingly, the mechanical properties of the seamless steel pipe are expected to be improved with the said residual stress reduced by means of getting the straightening temperature enhanced appropriately.
