    Calculation and Analysis of Mechanical Parameters of Mini-MPM Retained Mandrel Pipe Mill

    • Based on the result of studies of the retained mandrel pipe mill, a set of calculation formulas and flow chart for the mechanical parameters of the Mini-MPM are deduced and summarized in this paper. Then a program is composed with these formulas and flow chart, based on which an analysis is conducted on the effects upon the mechanical parameters by such elements as shell wall thickness, mandrel retaining speed and roll diameter. The results show that the shell wall thickness obviously affects the rolling force of the first stand of the mill; the man- drel speed produces just slight influence on the mechanical data, while the roll diameter considerably works on the rolling force. Finally, the paper presents certain approaches to ameliorate the mechanical parameters of the Mini-MPM retained mandrel pipe mill.
