    Analysis for Ultrasonic Detection of Weld Transversal Defect of Heavy-wall HSAW Pipe

    • Analyzed here in the article are the current situation and some existing problems in association with the automatic ultrasonic detection of the HSAW pipe.Accordingly a new type integrated probe set is designed for detection of weld transversal defects.It is regarded via the analysis that without significant modification of the existing detection system, the said integrated probe set is capable of performing whole-coverage transversal weld defect detection of the HSAWpipe so as to meet the requirements for weld detection for heavy-wall(over 20 mm) steel pipes as used for national key pipeline systems.Moreover the detection method and experiences as resulting from this innovated UT equipment is worth referencing for detection of weld longitudinal defects of the heavy-wall HSAW pipe, and spreading up for weld detection of other types of heavy-wall steel pipes as well.
