Application of FEM Simulation to Development of Shaped Stainless Steel Pipe

To develop the Cable-in-conduit Conductor Unit for the Poloidal Field(PF) coils of the ITER system,the Abaqus FEM software is used to simulate the deforming process of the steel pipe.Based on the result,the technological parameters and the die parameters are optimized,which has led to reduction of the development costs.The test result embodies the value of the computer simulation technology as used in the development of the shaped stainless steel pipe.
