Technology, Equipment and Control Features of Ф89 mm Semi-floating MPM Plant

Certain problems concerning the Ф89 mm semi-floating MPM plant are pointed out. Thanks to its Phase II upgrade involving employment of some new technology, right now both the product size range and quality of the said plant are improved. Described here in the paper are the main aspects of the pipe plant, covering production capacity, product mix, selection of the manufacturing technology, manufacturing process flow as well as the processes, equipment and control features of the main mills of the plant namely, the cone type piercing mill, the 6-stand semi-floating MPM and the 24-stand stretch reducing mill. The paper focuses on introduction of the key measures as taken to improve product quality and yield of the plant, including the CARTA-SRA system, the flying sawing machine and the material tracking system.
