DEVELOPMENT OF 12CrlMoV STEEL PIPE BANDED ORIENTATION AND RELEVANT ELIMINATION MEASURES

Factors responsible for development of banded orientation in the steel pipe and possible eliminating measures were investigated via different heat treatment tests with l2CrlMoV steel pipes with O.D. ≤ 60mm and W.T. ≤ 10mm. The test results show that the development of the said banded orientation is related to the final heat treatment of the pipe and that the defect could be eliminated by strict control of temperature and cooling speed during heat treatment as per relevant criteria.
