    Discussion on Process Layout of Chamfering Machine for SAW Steel Pipe

    • Described in the paper are development and application of the process arrangement for mechanically-end-facing operation of the chamfering machine for SAW steel pipe in the country.Analyzed are the advantages and disadvantages of different process arrangement methods for the said operation.Relevant operation practice leads to the conclusion that among various process layouts for the end-facing operation,the solution involving the tube transfer car with saddle device to support tubes is comparatively more advantageous and logic,which is capable of getting tubes free of any damage as resulting from hit by rolling tubes themselves in case of using the conventional kick-off type tube transfer system.With the above mentioned saddle-equipped tube transfer car,during the entire operation process the tubes are ensured to be handled smoothly and no impact between the material and the equipment,thus no hit-caused noise,and moreover,tube surface quality is improved.
