Current Situation and Development Prospect of Technical Equipment of Domestic Seamless Steel Tube-making Industry(Part Ⅲ)

The technical equipment development of domestic seamless steel tube-making industry is detailed. Since 1953 when the first domestic Φ140 mm plug mill was put into operation, thanks to continual research, development and import, the seamless steel tube-making industry of the country has been equipped with the most complete hot-rolling mills in the world in terms of type and product size range, and also equipped with cold-rolling (drawing) mills with considerable type variety and tube size range. However, the technical equipment level so varies geographically, and the equipment engineering and manufacturing firms are so scattered. To speed up the domestic seamless steel tube-making industry and turn the country from a big seamless steel tube consumer and producer into a world power in this regard, proposals have been put forward, including fully tapping the capacities of the existing advanced equipment, gearing up the development of small modern mills, making the distribution of the conventional pipe mills more geographically logical and improving the centralization of the manufacturers as well as building up large-scale corporations.
