Abstract
It is concluded as follows via the analysis of the results of the tests as made to the basic characteristics of the 08Cr9MoVRE steel for making the L80-9Cr corrosion-resistant oil well pipe. The tested steel as being rolled under ambient temperature conditions presents high strength and poor plasticity, and the strip martensite metallographic microstructure;therefore after rolling, the steel needs to be tempered promptly, and after quenched at 980 ℃ and tempered at 720~780℃, the tested steel has its all performance indexes up to the requirements as specified for the L80-9Cr steel. The result of high temperature tensile test shows that when the steel is heated to 1 225~1 250 °C, its deformation resistance is rather low, while its ductility is good, which is helpful for piercing deformation thereof. And the result of the corrosion resistance test shows that the average corrosion rate of the 08Cr9MoVRE steel as tested is 1/10 of the average corrosion rate of the general carbon steel under the same corrosion conditions.
