Discussion on West-to-East Natural Gas Transmission Project and Development Trend of Domestic Steel Tube Industry

Addressing the great opportunities and challenges provided by the Campaign of Developing Western China and the West-to-East Natural Gas Transmission Project,the development trend of domestic steel tube industry is discussed,and a brief description of the said gas transmission project and major requirements for steel tubular products thereby are present.The author regards that a number of actions should be taken,including significant technical revamp for production of large-sized spiral weld pipes,proper expansion of production of large-sized submerged-arc straight weld pipes,further improvement of production of high-frequency straight weld pipes,involving set up of one or two more sets of Φ610mm milis,and further development of hi-tech,high value-added specialty seamless steel tubulars.
