Application of Wavelet Pocket Technique to Torsion Analysis of Rolling Mill Drive Spindle

Abstract
It is known that the torsional signal may occur due to any crack or gap as developed on the drive spindle of the rolling mill. Accordingly,the wavelet pocket technique is used to conduct relevant frequency band energy analysis of the signal as caught,and then find out the regularity via the statistical analysis,based on which,the operation status of the main drive system of the mill can be just determined. It is proposed that the method of using the wavelet pocket technique in rolling mill drive spindle torsional analysis be spread up to more rolling equipment like the pipe-rolling mill and the straightening machine,etc. Application of the technique will further improve fault diagnosis effectiveness for the rolling operation.
