The 70 years history of the domestic steel tube-making industry(1949—2019)is divided into five stages.The development situation of each stage is reviewed, including mill constructions, steel tube outputs, import and export volumes and product types, etc.The annual output has been increased from 4 000 tons in the time of founding of P.R. China to 73.20 million tons in 2018.During the 2000—2015 period, the industry had been developed very fast, and the steel tube annual output had reached the peak, i.e., 98.018 million tons, accounting for 65%of world total output. And the yearly steel tube export volume had also reached the peak of 9.895 million tons in 2008.Up to now, the domestic steel tube-making industry has made great progresses in terms of product types, sizes and quality, and the self-sufficient rates of most of the steel tbe types have been up to 100%.

Described here in the paper is the development situation of the domestic seamless steel tube-making industry over the recent years. It is regarded that there are still some certain problems as at present staying with the industry,including over production capacity,uneven levels of equipment and product quality,low industrial concentration level,deficient independent innovation ability and supply of high-end products,and poor ability to meet the extra-low emission standards,etc. Accordingly the orientation towards high quality development of the seamless steel tube industry is pointed out,and suggestions are proposed as below. Relevant governmental departments have to strengthen supervision of the industry to prevent another turn of overcapacity,push forward merger and reorganization to enhance the industrial concentration level,implement the industrial policies to phase out backward production capacity,and strengthen organization and coordination to promote orderly development of the industry in a bid to speed up continuous,healthy and hi-efficient development of the seamless steel tube-making industry.

Reviewed is the development situation of the domestic seamless steel tube industry.And based on the document of Guideline for Promotion of High Quality Development of Iron & Steel Industry(Solicited Vision),relevant suggestions for development of domestic seamless steel tube production in the 14th FYP period are proposed,involving such aspects as output,import and export volumes,enterprise reconstruction,manufacturing equipment,technical and product type innovation,environment-friendly development,AI manufacturing and internalization,etc.

Describes here in the paper is a review of the domestic steel tube industry in 2019,involving such aspects as the steel tube output,apparent consumption,and import & export status,and the price trend of the steel tube.Also expected is the steel tube marketing situation in 2020,and forecasted are the steel product consumptions of different fields of the industry in the country in the same year.Accordingly key concerns associated with the industry are put forward.It is expected that the main driving force for the domestic steel tube price in 2020 is still from the demand side,and that if the production capacity is sufficient,the capacity release is determined by the demand and the cost;the steel tube price and the profit focus of the industry will be continuously moving down,while it will be rather hard for the price trend to be going up,but quite probably going down.

Briefed in the paper are the current statuses of the constructions of the linepipes for pure hydrogen and hydrogen mixed gas transmission at home and abroad,the current development situation of the technical specifications for hydrogen transport pipelines as well as storage,transport,pipeline design,testing and evaluation of pro-hydrogen materials for domestic and foreign hydrogen systems. Accordingly it is regarded that along with the increases of the strength of the material,the content of the chemical elements that easily form segregation,the size and quantity of the inclusions,and the pressure and purity of hydrogen,etc.,the sensitivity of hydrogen embrittlement increases;and the weak parts such as the weld joint of the welded pipe also increases the sensitivity of hydrogen embrittlement of the pipeline. Furthermore it is recommended that the selection of the materials for the hydrogen transmission pipeline should focus on factors concerning the steel goods,including the cleanness,the chemical composition design,controls of the non-metallic inclusion morphology,the microstructure segregation and the banded microstructure,and the coating method,etc.
